Getting Involved

Habitat is an organization of volunteers. We have a great time. Construction is supervised by an experience journeyman in the trade. Working on the house takes much more than swinging a hammer at some nails -ALL types of help is welcomed.

One of the most appreciated volunteers are the ones that bring food on construction days. Planning and coordinating the project is a big undertaking and can consist of many smaller tasks that are highly important and but don't take exspecially long by them selves.

Increasingly, individuals are remembering their friends and families on the occasion of their birthday, anniversary, etc. with a gift to Rice County Habitat for Humanity. To specify a gift in honor of someone, please include their name and address. A special note card will be sent to the person being celebrated, informing them that a gift has been made in their honor. To give a memorial gift, please include the name and address of the next of kin so they may be notified of the gift in memory of their loved one.

If you are interested in making a tribute gift in honor of several individuals, we would like to suggest a minimum of $25.00 per person in order to process your gift as efficiently as possible. While we sincerely and gratefully welcome all donations, your consideration of our request regarding tribute gifts will help to ensure that 88.5% of every dollar donated continues to provide direct program support for hardworking, Rice County families in need.

In 1999 the Minnesota legislature passed the Charitable Giving Tax Relief Act. This Act provides a 50% tax deduction to nonitemizers for charitable contributions over $500. All 501(c)(3) organizations are eligible - this includes all public charities as well as religious organizations.
