We are currently accepting applications from families for the 2008 build.
We look at:
- NEED
- ABILITY TO REPAY THE INTEREST-FREE MORTGAGE, and
- WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER WITH HABITAT (meaning working on the home, attending fund-raisers, and having their name in the public spotlight as part of public relations efforts)
If you know a family in need please have them call the Habitat office at (507) 323-5167 for an application.

The
Rice County Habitat for Humanity affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International
was chartered in 1991, and we built our first house in Northfield in 1993.
After building our second house in Faribault, Rice County Habitat for Humanity
reorganized and grew stronger. We hired a part-time Executive Director, opened
an office, and formed a twelve-member Board of Directors. Most importantly,
we increased our building capacity to one house each year, constructing:
- Our third house in Dundas in 1997-98
- Our fourth house in Faribault in 1999
- Our fifth house in Northfield in 2000-01
- Our sixth house in Faribault in 2001-02
- Our seventh house in Northfield in 2002
- Our eighth house in Faribault in 2003
- Our ninth house in Northfield in 2004
- Our tenth house in Nerstrand in 2005
Our build capacity was increased to two houses in 2006, with both homes being
built in Nerstrand. In 2007, we will again be building two homes (in Nerstrand
and Northfield).
And we aren’t stopping there! Our immediate goals are to:
- continue our building capacity of two houses each year and
- explore Habitat house-building opportunities in other Rice County communities.
With the support of individual volunteers, skilled craftsworkers, churches,
businesses and organizations, we feel confident that we will achieve these
goals. Thank you for supporting Habitat’s mission to build decent,
affordable housing in partnership with qualified homebuyers!
Building a Habitat home is more than building the structure it is about
building a community.
A our community gets stronger and more vibrant with each Habitat home built.
